Home upkeep in Birmingham, four visits a year.
Birmingham streets carry two eras at once, older houses from the town's early years with newer custom builds going up between them. Four visits a year, the small jobs handled, from $— a month.
Birmingham took its name in 1836, when it was a foundry and threshing-machine town on the Woodward Corridor. Shain Park on Merrill Street is the heart of downtown, with a plaza fountain and a band shell that holds the In the Park concerts every summer. Baldwin Public Library has stood downtown since 1927, a few blocks from houses nearly as old. From May through October the Sunday farmers market fills the lot off Old Woodward, and the trees on those blocks start dropping as it closes. The older houses carry long rooflines and years of gutter work, while the newer builds lean on big windows that show every smudge from the street.
