Most of Berkley went up in the 1940s boom, on small grid lots where the houses sit a driveway apart. The gutter line on a house that size is short and in plain view of the street, which makes it easy to clear and just as easy to let go.
Oxford Park and Bacon Park are two of the seven parks Berkley runs, and the trees in them and along the grid shed onto short rooflines every October. The fall clear on a Berkley house comes once that drop is done, so the trough is empty before it can freeze.
The schedule.
Twice a year. Spring after the seeds drop, fall after the leaves. The fall visit is the one that matters: whatever's left in the gutter in November freezes there. Two-story homes are published too: $— added to a plan, $— one-time.
What the visit looks like.
Cleared by hand, downspouts flushed until they run clear, the mess bagged and gone. Anything soft or missing at the roof edge gets noted in the record.
On a plan, this job is done during one of the four visits. The plans, priced for Berkley: Home upkeep in Berkley.
